Jenő Ádám, a student of Kodály’s and perhaps his greatest contemporary admirer, was also the one who structured and developed his pedagogical method: his Christmas one-act was the first work at the Opera House, which placed the pure Hungarian folk song on the same stage as the works of the great figures of classical music history. On Christmas 1931, Hungarian Christmas premiered with the theatre's greatest singers, conducted by the composer.

A klasszikus mesék egyik legmeghatóbb története elevenedik meg a színpadon ebben az előadásban, amely érzékenyen, mégis látványosan mesél a szeretetről, a hűségről és a kitartás erejéről. A körülbelül 60 perces, egyfelvonásos mesejáték kicsiknek és nagyoknak egyaránt maradandó élményt kínál.

A Grincs egy cinikus, zsémbes zöld szőrmók története, aki el akarja lopni a karácsonyt, ám végül egy kislány őszinte ünnepi lelkesedése szívhez téríti. Vicces és szívmelengető történet a karácsony lényegéről és az optimizmus megtörhetetlen erejéről. Bizonyára sokan ismerik a moziból, a televízióból az amerikai film alapjául szolgáló történetet. Színpadi feldolgozására első ízben a Pesti Művész Színház Fogi Gyermekszínháza vállalkozott.

The tale of Leander the goblin and Princess Linseed, brimming with magic and a seemingly unbreakable curse, not to mention a wealth of twists and turns, is a genuinely good yarn. Set to a libretto by Barnabás Szöllősi that is based on Andor Szilágyi's fable for the theatre and written at the OPERA's request in the 2014/15 season, Erkel Prize-winning composer Zsófia Tallér's masterful, expressive and entertaining music makes this Hungarian fairy tale opera an enjoyable experience for children and adults alike, and, we hope, a possible future classic.

Set in the Roman Empire around 74 BC, Spartacus was László Seregi's first true full-length ballet, which at one stroke became a milestone in Hungarian dance life. Since 1968, one generation after another has enjoyed the historically themed choreography, which treats the story of the ancient slave revolt in such a way that its true message is not the rebellion itself, but rather human emotions and choices under pressure.

A Streetcar Named Desire is Marianna Venekei's first full-length choreography. The project, lovingly nurtured for many years, is a collaboration between her and composer-saxophonist László Dés.

János Hunyadi is responsible for the tolling of bells around the world; Mátyás Hunyadi is the hero of a string of folk tales; László Hunyadi inspired “only” an opera.
