The movement entitled Axis was choreographed by József Hámor, who is also the evening’s director, and opens with the classic melodies of Georges Bizet. The piece symbolises the three pillars of existence—the spiritual, mental, and physical dimensions—which are brought to life for the audience through the solos of three men at different stages of their lives. A dancer in their teens, a dancer in their twenties and a dancer in their thirties each demonstrate their own sense of stability, filtered through the experiences of their respective ages. Their inner journey finds its fulfilment in the deep, industrial pulse of Gangaray Experimental Music.
It is upon this solid foundation that Flux, choreographed by Attila Rónai, is woven, symbolising an unstoppable, ever-changing force. This is where the company’s trademark elemental feminine energies return. The women’s sweeping, uncompromising, organic movements blend seamlessly with the tautness of the men.
Theinterplay of the dimensions and the atmosphere of the piece are brought to life by Benjamin (Beno) Szilágyi’s unique visual light painting. Stability and the pulsing of the flow thus merge into a single, living universe on stage.
