O Fortuna. Everyone knows the overwhelmingly powerful opening motifs of Carl Orff's most famous work. What fewer people know is that Carmina Burana was not intended to be an oratorical work, but was instead expressly meant for the stage. This becomes clear from the piece's (originally Latin) subtitle: “Secular songs for singers and chorus to be sung together with instruments and magical images.”
Over the course of the many times he has conducted the work, Tibor Bogányi gradually developed a vision for a staged version. The creators conceived a breathtaking spectacle to surround the three soloists, the three dancers from the Hungarian National Ballet and the monumental 120-strong chorus on the stage of the Erkel Theatre, with the 3D “magical images” coming to life on six projection displays and LED walls.
Before the show, the Bordó Sárkány Old Music Order will perform to get the audience tuned in and keyed up for medieval melodies.

Napfényben fürdő görög sziget. Mindent körbeölelő csillogó türkiz tenger. Hangulatos tavernák, ínycsiklandó étkek, mavrodaphne… Egyszerűen idilli - tökéletes felkeresni, ott időzni, visszatérni – s persze élni. Donna Sheridan, a független, céltudatos asszony ezt a nem mindennapi környezetet választotta otthonául, és itt született húsz évvel ezelőtt Sophie is, a lánya. Sophie, aki édesanyja szemléletétől eltérően mindig is szenvedélyes szerelemről, hatalmas fehér esküvőről álmodott, elvágyik e csodálatos mediterrán szigetről. A nagy utazást azonban nem egyedül, hanem választottja, Sky oldalán tervezi elkezdeni. Házasságkötésüket mindössze egy apróság árnyékolja be: Sophie szeretné, ha édesapja vezetné oltárhoz, akit azonban nem ismer...
Bruscon (Alföldi Róbert), a Nemzet Színésze, kis társulatával vendégjátékra érkezik. Az új és ismeretlen helyen azonban szinte mindennel baja van. És csak pár óra van az előadás kezdéséig.
A hegyek között, egy eldugott alpesi szállodában eseménydúsan telnek a napok. Bár mindenki pihenni jött, de senki nem talál nyugalmat, pedig a körülmények adottak lennének a tökéletes kikapcsolódáshoz. Házaspárok, barátok, üzletfelek és művészek nyaralnak együtt, már nem először, de talán most utoljára, mert ezen a nyáron néhányuk sorsa menthetetlenül és végzetesen összegabalyodik.
